SKI & SNOWBOARD BASE LAYER DESIGN
This base layer outfit was designed to be part of the ski and snowboard line at WSI Sports, a local performance sportswear manufacturer looking to develop more undergarments that effectively use its patented Heatr fabric technology. The target market consists of male skiers and snowboarders ages 35 – 60 who strive to look young and masculine, but want to feel comfortable and supported while they ski and snowboard. Lizzie's undershirt design won the student design challenge by selling out at the ski and snowboard convention in six major locations nationwide.
JUMPSUIT DESIGN FOR EARTHQUAKE RESCUE CREWS
With the growing importance of disaster relief in recent years, it is important that safety precautions be explored for all aspects of any given disaster. The purpose of this design is to provide protection for male earthquake rescuers during aftershocks that hinder rescue efforts and injure team members. The jumpsuit design meets the safety and mobility needs of earthquake rescue team members with a concept that relates to the unique environmental conditions in which it is worn. This design was awarded 2nd place in the Safety Products Student Design Challenge.
COOL RIDER MOUNTAIN BIKING JACKET
Collaborative Design with Sara Lopez
The purpose of this project, developed in a studio course in collaboration with Nike, was to design a jacket for male mountain bikers riding in 35-50° Fahrenheit weather. The primary challenge was to eliminate the user’s need to remove his jacket during rides when he becomes too warm. In order to identify and organize user needs, our design team conducted a focus group of recreational mountain bikers and identified market gaps in competitors’ jackets. This final garment was developed after testing and revising an initial prototype.
The materials used were GoreTex for the outer shell and front pockets, mesh lining, laser-cut polyester strips, fleece lower sleeve and collar lining, reflective piping, water-resistance zip vents on shoulders, center front opening, and sleeve hem.
