FW 2012: CAPTIVATION |
cap·ti·va·tion
1. The state of being intensely interested (as by awe or terror)
2. A feeling of great liking for something wonderful and unusual
Captivation explores garments with both rigid and soft structures, inspired by gothic architecture and cathedrals. It depicts the story of a woman lost in the beauty of her surroundings, blurring the lines between body and environment. It targets sophisticated women who desire unique, flattering looks that elicit joy & confidence in their professional and social lives. Captivation was presented in the University of Minnesota Senior Fashion Show in February of 2012.
To add an unexpected texture to each look, I designed intricate statement earrings made from walnut. The cathedral-inspired earring designs complete her head-to-toe vision for the collection, produced on a wood lathe by my brother, artist Joe Hillmann.
