SURFACE DESIGN

The sunrise through a frosted window inspired this Batik scarf design.  Beeswax resist was used to maintain colors as the ombre effect was created on this rayon scarf. In order to isolate scarf segments for each color, multiple dye baths and repeated wax layers were applied.

This is a series of three-layer prints created using monoprint techniques, photographic images, and drawn images. The goal was to portray Lizzie's sense of place in Minnesota. These prints explore transparency, texture, and foreground-background relationships.
